Our Story

Architects of Rarity and Discovery

Every great journey begins with a simple adventure, and the story of Maaso Tour and Travel started with friendship and passion for exploring Uganda.
Before the company was created, the owner had a deep love for traveling and showing visitors the real beauty of Uganda. One year, a close friend from the Czech Republic came to Uganda looking for adventure and authentic experiences. Excited to explore together, they planned a journey across the country.
Their adventure first led them to the wild beauty of Kidepo Valley National Park. The long road trip through northern Uganda was filled with laughter, stories, and breathtaking scenery. When they arrived in Kidepo, they were amazed by the untouched wilderness — endless savannahs, elephants roaming freely, lions resting in the grass, and sunsets that painted the sky gold and orange.
After Kidepo, they traveled east to the beautiful Sipi Falls. Surrounded by green hills and waterfalls, they hiked through coffee farms, met local communities, and enjoyed the peaceful beauty of nature. The Czech friend could not believe how diverse Uganda was.
Their journey then continued to Jinja, where adventure awaited on the mighty Nile River. Together, they experienced thrilling white-water rafting, explored local markets, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of Uganda’s adventure capital. Along the way, they also visited many other beautiful places, discovering the culture, music, food, and warm hospitality of Uganda.
The Czech friend returned home with unforgettable memories and stories about Uganda’s beauty and kindness.
About a year later, another opportunity appeared. A friend from Germany contacted the future owner and asked if she could guide and drive a group of German friends around Uganda. Excited by the idea, she agreed.
This journey became something special.
The travelers explored Uganda’s famous national parks, including Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. They loved seeing elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, and the incredible landscapes of the Pearl of Africa.
But what touched them most were the experiences in the villages.
The owner wanted them to see the real Uganda beyond the safari parks. In the villages, the visitors joined local families in daily activities. They dug in the gardens, peeled matooke, cooked with families, and learned traditional ways of life. They sat together sharing stories, laughter, and meals.
For many of the German visitors, it was their first time tasting authentic Ugandan dishes like Rolex, matooke, and binyebwa. They loved the food, the hospitality, and the connection they felt with the local people. The visitors said they did not feel like tourists anymore — they felt part of the community.
The experience was so memorable that another group returned again for a second trip, asking the owner to guide them once more through Uganda’s parks, villages, and cultural experiences. Seeing how much people loved Uganda and the way they connected deeply with its people and nature inspired something bigger.
That was the moment the idea was born.
The owner realized he was not simply driving people around the country. He was creating memories, sharing culture, connecting people, and helping travelers discover the true soul of Uganda.
From those adventures with friends from the Czech Republic and Germany, Maaso Tours and Travel was born — a company built on friendship, passion, culture, adventure, and authentic experiences.
Today, Maaso Tours and Travel continues to welcome travelers from around the world, offering unforgettable safaris, gorilla trekking adventures, cultural experiences, village visits, birdwatching tours, and exciting journeys across Uganda. Every trip carries the same spirit that started it all — showing people the real beauty, warmth, and heart of the Pearl of Africa.
